QUIMPER; Brittany's oldest city and the capital of la Cornouaille, the name given to this region by Celts who fled here from Cornwall. Wander through the cobbled streets or sample from the wide selection of shops, cafes and bars. From the distinctive cathedral to the famous H. B. Henriot workshops that produce the distinctive 'faience,' there's something for everyday and everyone.
CONCARNEAU; Is one of France's largest fishing ports and the view of the medieval walled town is one of the most photographed in Brittany. Nearby Pont Aven is still very much a centre for art, and is made famous by the establishment of the American School and also by Paul Gaugin setting up his studio there.
PLONEOUR LANVERN; Is a warm and welcoming town just a short walk from Le Guib. The local shops, bars and restaurants and creperies provide excellent services right on your doorstep. A warm welcome on your holiday in France.
FESTIVALS & FETES; These take place at weekends throughout the summer in the many surrounding villages and towns. Look out for the local 'fest noz,' which is usually accompanied by a sign saying 'moules et frites,' and you will be assured a good time.
ACTIVITIES; A short drive takes you to Pointe de la Torche, which is one of the best surfing locations in the whole of France. Come and follow our country trails on foot, bicycle or horseback, or simply enjoy your holiday relaxing on one of the many golden sand beaches in the area.
DAYS OUT; The Oceanopolis in Brest is now not so much an aquarium as a marine theme park. Nearby Locronan has provided the backdrop to many films and is a prime example of a mediaeval Breton town frozen in time. Or simply take a Vedette from Loctudy or Benodet for a lazy cruise up the Odet river.
MARKETS; French markets are very much an experience in their own right. They are held in various towns throughout the week, the largest and most local being in the main square of Pont l'abbe on every Thursday.
GASTRONOMY;Brittany has long been renowned for it's seafood and the prices are very reasonable, making it an even more pleasurable experience. The other local speciality is the Breton Crepe, which is very popular and can be eaten as a savoury or sweet variety.
HOUSE SEEKERS. For people looking to move into the area we can provide off-season accommodation with storage if required, and we will be more than happy to introduce you to the charming owner of Ploneour Immobilier, the local estate agents. You can click on the blue link to be taken to their web site.
Art de Vivre; Bretons have perfected the 'art of living,' and after only a short time with us here in this lovely part of France you'll understand how.
Le Guib provides a spacious, relaxed and comfortable setting, from where you can enjoy your holiday in this beautiful part of Brittany. Within a matter of minutes you could be lying on the golden sands of one of the many beautiful beaches nearby, walking the many miles of coastal footpaths, or discovering the local history that is waiting for you around every corner.
