SURFING; Being
virtually surrounded by the sea it's hard
to get away without participating in any water
sports. Quite near to Le Guib is La pointe
de La Torche, which is a headland bordered
by lovely beaches on both sides. But this
isn't what most people come here for as it
produces some excellent surfing, which can
be anything from 2-3 metre waves in general,
to something quite scary after storms out
in the Atlantic. Down at the 'La Torche' there
are creperies and cafes, and there is also
a surf shop and surf school that give lessons
daily. Interested in the surf report? link

WALKING; Finistère
offers nearly 3,000 miles of marked footpaths
that can take you hiking right into the very
heart of the region. The famous 'Customs Trails'
are ancient paths around the coastline that
will allow you to walk from St Nazaire in
the Loire Atlantique, all the way to Mont-Saint-Michel
in the department of Manche. Whilst walking
you will see some outstanding scenery, as
well as have an opportunity to visit some
of the 2,400 hectares of land that has been
set aside a nature reserves to protect rare
species of all manner of wildlife. |
 |
CYCLING; Both the
French Cycling Federation, and the French
Cycle Touring Federation, have created a charter
that promotes properly maintained and signposted
routes specifically for mountain biking. The
routes combine the pleasure of mountain biking
with discovering the region's heritage and
nature, and also include a range of services
such as wash points, bike hire and use of
topoguides, which are detailed maps of walking
and cycling routes in France. For the more
leisurely cyclist, the area provides a reasonably
flat terrain for easy touring. Cycling is
a huge activity in France, and it is very
common to see a 'peloton' wherever you go.
(Peloton is a name for a densely packed group
of cyclists and literally means 'rolled up
in a ball.') |
 |
LOISIR ACTIF; Within
the immediate area or just a short drive away,
are several leisure parks and aquatic parks.
These are mixture of formal and tranquil gardens,
very often landscaped around a lake. These
can include anything from waterslides, log-flumes,
trampolines, bouncy castles, or even just
fishing on the lake. On the outskirts of Quimper
which is about a 20 minute drive, there is
also a paintballing centre and quad biking.

HORSE RIDING; From
simple treks across the heath to exhilarating
gallops across a beach, Brittany promises
an unforgettable time. It has some 2000 kilometres
of well marked bridle paths, many of which
can follow a coastal path providing some stunning
scenery. Known as the "Equibreizh"
trail, it's the perfect opportunity to discover
the land that has created so many myths and
legends on horseback |
 |
MUSEUMS, ART GALLERIES,
HISTORY; You will have guessed by now that
Brittany is loaded with things to do. But
if you wish to absorb some of the real heritage
and get to know Brittany better, then there
can be no better way than visiting the many
museums, galleries etc that abound in the
area. |
 |
DOING NOTHING;
If all the rest has tired you out, then you'll
be happy to hear that Le Guib has some tranquil
gardens just to sit and do absolutely nothing. |

| Everybody
has a different reason to go on holiday. and
everybody wants to get something different
out of it. If you are a young family, then
it's probably to keep the kids occupied during
the day so you can relax whilst they're asleep
a night. If you're looking just to re-charge
you batteries, then it's something more sedate.
The good news is Brittany has it all!
